Enlarged Pores - Definition, Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Definition:-

Pores are a form of opening which are usually small but if it gets enlarged then there is trouble for you. It is an opening for glands onto the surface of the skin. These pore secretes oil which lubricates also protecting the surface of your skin. If proper care is not taken then these small pores can be devastating for your face.

A common problem for those with oily skin, enlarged pores often appear in the areas on and around the nose, chin and forehead. They can also be hereditary, passed down from your parents. Enlarged pores are not a common occurrence for those with dry skin.

Symptoms:-

The important symptoms of enlarged pores are as:-
  • Blackheads
  • Oily skin
  • Skin sagging

Causes:-

The main causes of it are as:-

  • Aging: They lose collagen throughout their skin and the level of skin elasticity drops off dramatically. In addition the size of skin pores increases dramatically, the skin produces new skin cells less rapidly, decreasing the level of elatins in the skin.
  • Oily skins more prone to this problem.
  • Enlarged pores can be a result of severe acne.
  • During the time of puberty there are always chances of the pores to enlarges as it has to remove the excess oil at that point of time.

Treatment:-

Large pores are often an indication of oily skin. Use the following to cure enlarge pores:

  • Stop using harsh toners or astringents on the affected areas. they make them tight.but it's extremely short-lived. Harsh astrigents encourage oil glands to over-produce oil, leading to an increase in the size of pores.
  • moisturiseriser should be avoided on the area as the skin produces quite enough moisture and oil on its own and doesn't need more.
  • A non acid moisturizer, such as glycolic acid, retina or alpha hydroxy acids can be used for finishing. Do not use alcohol as all of these products tend to dry the skin.

    Techniques:

  • Microdermabrasion: is a method in which a powerful electronic vacuum spray microcrystals of aluminum dioxide over the areas effected to reduce enlarge pores.
