Aromatherapy as a Skin Care for Acne


Acne is a skin related disorder that tends to occur when over production of oil in the sebaceous gland takes place. This overproduction of oil results in the formation of clogged pores of skin which give rise to acne problems like pimples, black heads and white heads. Acne is mainly of three types, it can be mild, moderate or severe. Acne is a treatable disease and there are different types of treatments available for acne disorder. These include topical treatments, systemic therapies, antibiotic drugs treatment, laser treatment and Photo clearing treatment. These treatments have some side effects so these are not preferred by some people. For these persons Aromatherapy treatment suits the best.

Forms of Aromatherapy Treatment for Acne

Aromatherapy Oils: Aromatherapy oils reduce the secretion of sebaceous oil in sebaceous glands. Aromatherapy oils lubricate skin deeply thereby opening the clogged pores of skin. These oils also kill the acne causing germs that resides on the skin surface. Moreover these oils also improves circulation of blood inside the skin and remove pollutants from the skin surface, thereby making skin more healthy, and a healthy skin is less prone to diseases.

Choosing Aromatherapy Oils: O ne must choose Aromatherapy blends having anti inflammatory, balancing and astringent properties.

Oils having anti inflammatory properties are beneficial for reducing the irritation and swelling caused by acne. These include German and chamomile, frankincense, clary sage, helichrysum, patchouli and lavender.

Aromatherapy oil's astringent properties are helpful in controlling the secretion of oil. These include Cedar wood, Frankincense, Juniper, Geranium, Lavender, Palma Rosa, Neroli, and Rosewood.

Care Regarding Aromatherapy Oils: These oils are highly concentrated and should not be directly applied on skin. You need to mix these oils with vegetable oils, apricot oils to mitigate their bad effects.
